Sam Pearce L6 - AB

Here's some pics of Sam's latest sculptures and Adrian demonstrating using oxy propane to heat up one area of the sculpture quickly to upset a small section.

There's two weeks until summative assessment so more pictures of the finished pieces to follow ...

Stuart Smith L6 - AB

When I went to the forge this week to give the students tutorials I took these pics of Stuart's work , he's designed a series of forged lights some will be ceiling based , some table based and there may be standard lamp as well ,he has been inspired by farm machinery and wheels . The forging in this piece is strong and the terminations and connections fit into the aesthetic , I'm looking forward to seeing this piece finished , the nuts will be replaced with rivets and it will throw strong shadows across a room when the light is fitted , there are lots of possibilities and ways to develop this body of work before Stuart graduates - it's looking good !

Carolyn Watson L6 - CAA

Carolyn is a part - time third year CAA student so this is her sixth year with us and she'll be graduating this June ..

Her work is fibre based and she's inspired by bird nests and loves to use natural fibre , bamboo and willow in her constructions . Recently I took some her finished pieces to the the Made by Hand Craft Fair at Tredegar House and it was great to see joe many people wanted to purchase them

At my tutorial with Carolyn yesterday it was exciting to see her sketchbook full of new ideas of how to continue and develop her practice between now and the Degree Show , here's a few pics if her workspace and sketchbooks yesterday ....
