Creative spaces

When our students are not in the workshop they can generally be found in their 'spaces'. The notion of calling them spaces suggests that these areas are used for lots of things. Some students live in their spaces and every inch is covered in really interesting imagery and things, some people put up shelves and paint the walls, others create little display cabinets and treat it like a neat exhibition space!

Here are some that belong to third year jewellers. We have Amy, Gemma and Liv, and they are completely different with what they design , make and what they make with!

Gemma is exploring the concept of narrative, using family photos, objects and childhood stories to inform her work. She is designing a range of brooches that have movable elements that contain family secrets. Amy is all about drawing attention to the irony within the fashion industry. She has a background in fashion and has been producing oversized 'hidden' parts of commercial jewellery, like butterfly backs for earrings! Liv is passionate about yoga and is developing a range of prints and jewellery objects, based on drawings she has created. Liv will be experimenting with leather and textiles to see how see can translate these images into worn objects.
